Job Descriptions

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will be responsible for leading the Technical Services team to deliver best practice services and support in the areas of mine design, mine planning, survey, geotechnical, geology, mineral resource management, hydrology, and growth studies. You will be central to applying technical expertise via systems, processes and technologies that will support to achieve the mine's performance targets. Further, be accountable for developing robust business plans to maximize the value of the mineral resource.

Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

 

  • Strategic Mine Planning that maximizes value of the company’s assets

 

  • Shape strategic evolution and ensure sustainability of mining operations through various studies

 

  • Initiate and lead scenario planning for medium and long-term mine plans in response to market and business performance

 

  • Consolidation of short, medium and long-term planning information from all areas

 

  • Co-ordination of various teams across the business to ensure fully integrated mine plans are developed

 

  • Implement best practices across all mine technical areas

 

  • Analyse and interpret mining data towards continuous improvement of mining operations

 

  • Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements

 

  • Enhance management systems and standards across all mine technical disciplines

 

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • A Degree in Mine Engineering, Geology or related disciplines

 

  • At least 10 years experience on mine sites located in developing countries with 5 years’ experience in a similar role

 

  • At least 3 years in underground mine design (long hole stoping, cut and fill), mine planning and scheduling

 

  • Familiarity with JORC code guidelines and experience in Reserve and Resource estimation and reporting

 

  • Exceptional leadership qualities with excellent interpersonal and communication skills

 

  • Identify key performance indicators, adapt and develop them as needed to achieve objectives

 

  • Able to think creatively and innovatively towards unlocking business value.

 

This is a renewable fixed term position. The onsite camp facilities at Wassa include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, dining halls, sports bar convenience store, gym and sporting facilities, swimming pool and a fully equipped medical Center. An attractive expatriate salary package including a performance-based incentive and other benefits is on offer.
