Golden Star Wassa participated in the maiden Local Content Summit organized by the Minerals Commission and held in Takoradi on 18–19 February 2026. The summit convened mining companies, service providers, regulators, and industry stakeholders to advance Ghanaian participation in the mining sector.

During a panel discussion on ESG, Sustainability, and Gender, Golden Star General Manager, Mr. George Nutor emphasized that local content remains central to responsible mining at Golden Star and across its contractor network.

H.E. John Mahama, President of Ghana, visited the Golden Star Wassa exhibition booth, where representatives shared the company’s local content best practices and ongoing efforts to strengthen Ghanaian participation.

In 2025, Golden Star Wassa spent over $51.26 million with Ghanaian businesses, working with more than 230 local suppliers through its procurement systems. To deepen participation beyond direct employment, the company partnered with institutions to build supplier capacity and readiness to meet industry standards. These initiatives supported training for more than 267 individuals and contributed to the creation of over 79 jobs across services supporting operations.

The company also invested $1.14 million in community development initiatives in 2025, supporting livelihoods and local infrastructure. Its workforce remained predominantly Ghanaian, with over 90 percent of employees drawn from the national labour force.

Golden Star Wassa will continue to support policies and partnerships that strengthen local participation and deliver sustainable value to host communities and the national economy.
