Chifeng Gold and its subsidiaries Golden Star Wassa and Sepon were part of attendees of the 25th China Mining Conference and Exhibition held at Tianjin China.
The three-day conference which was held from 26th – 28th October brought together more than 10,000 delegates and 400 exhibitors from across 70 countries.
Representing Golden Star Wassa Ltd was its chairman Mr. Kevin Chen as well as Executive Director and Head of Corporate Affairs Mr. Gerard Boakye. They were accompanied by other senior officials of Chifeng Gold.
At the sidelines of the conference, leadership of Golden Star Wassa participated in the Government of Ghana country session where Lyu Xiaozhao, Director, VP and Chief Engineer of Chifeng Gold Group presented a supporting statement on the support given to Chinese companies by the government of Ghana.
Mr. Chen, chairman of Golden Star Wassa made a presentation on Wassa’s progress since its acquisition by Chifeng Gold.
Mr. Boakye then took part in a panel discussion on Golden Star Wassa’s ESG initiatives.
Outside the conference and as a demonstration of the collaboration between the Government of Ghana and Chinese companies in Ghana, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources in Ghana, took a tour of Chifeng Jilong Gold, the mother company of Golden Star Wassa.
Commenting on the conference and Golden Star Wassa’s participation Mr. Kevin Chen intimated that he was excited to share the conference experience with key stakeholders of the Ghana mining industry, like the Minister of Lands and Natural resources, Mr. John Jinapor, the CEO of the Minerals Commission Mr. Martin Ayisi, the chairman of the parliamentary select committee on mining Mr. Atta Akyea as well as the technical advisor on mines to the minister Mr. Ben Aryee.
Mr. Chen is of the view that the “lessons from the conference will be mutually beneficial to Golden Star Wassa as well as to the Government of Ghana”.
The China Mining Conference and Exhibition is one of the world’s largest gathering of governments, policy makers, investors and mining industry players.
