We are pleased to welcome 81 National Service personnel to the Golden Star team for the 2025/ 2026 year. Their journey with us began with a series of welcome workshops where they learned about our operations and connected with the teams they will be working alongside.

National Service is a mandatory one-year programme instituted by the Government of Ghana to ensure that graduates who complete tertiary education gain practical work experience in their respective fields.
At Golden Star Wassa, each National Service personnel is paired with a department and a dedicated coach and is guided by a tailored Training Plan. Assignments are based on their academic background and professional interests, allowing them to gain hands-on experience while contributing meaningfully to our operations. The cohort brings together graduates from disciplines such as engineering, communications, environmental science, finance, human resources and information technology, reflecting the wide range of expertise required to support modern mining operations.

Hubert Abossey, Learning and Development Superintendent, noted that the National Service programme plays an important role in preparing young graduates for the workplace.
“We are pleased to welcome this year’s cohort to Golden Star Wassa. Through their placements across our departments, they will gain practical experience while contributing to our operations. Beyond this, the programme allows us to support the development of the next generation of professionals for Ghana’s mining industry,” he said.

This cohort also marks a first for us. They are the first group of National Service personnel to receive dedicated uniforms, making it easier to identify them within the wider workforce and strengthening how National Service personnel are integrated into our operations.
The programme forms part of Golden Star Wassa’s commitment to supporting skills development and preparing Ghana’s next generation of professionals.
We look forward to the energy and ideas they bring and wish them success as they begin this important stage of their professional journey.
